The recordings: The purpose of this website is to get the message that is in the songs out to the world, for evangelism, teaching, and inspiration. Minnie’s contribution is more in the writing of the songs than in the recording and performance of them, although in many cases her singing is powerful and clearly captured on her tapes. When a song would come to her (usually while reading the Bible and referring to “The Daily Light on the Daily Path”) she would work it out on the piano and record it, to get it down. Then after developing it and practicing she would make a good version that she could copy and share with friends and family. Other times she would play and sing as a way to worship, and would turn on the tape recorder. Some of the songs here are not finished versions but are so good at bringing out the message, and so much fun to listen to, that they have to be included. She started recording in the 1970s with her “Songs from Home” album, and never used high quality equipment, except on her second album, “Show Me the Way, Jesus”, which she taped at a recording studio in 1983. Even that tape has deteriorated over time. All songs have been audio-engineered to improve listenability. A few still have a high background noise level, but listeners should not have to adjust the volume on their speakers.
